FOD Weekly Update 5-17-26 IMPORTANT UPDATES

Good afternoon FOD Families,

This is a long email but contains important info. Please read it entirely. Thank you!

Thank you to all of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers, and families for helping make our meet yesterday a success. We received many compliments from the West Sac team on our sportsmanship. We are proud of the team's effort and sportsmanship, and we appreciate everyone who contributed their time and energy to make the event run smoothly.

Photos: Thanks to our fabulous parent volunteer photographer - Phil Tang - here is a link to yesterday's meet photos: https://linkit.shutterfly.com/st_UUB

The link and photos also posted on our private Facebook page - Fair Oaks Dolphins (cover photo is the BV pool). Requests must be made to be added - simply type in your swimmers first name and practice group name and you will be added for access to this Facebook page.

Results: Many families have had questions about results so going to give a quick summary here. Meet results are posted on our website. West Sac results are also attached to this email. Our team uses Time Drops Live where meet results are also available. Time Drops is a free app and linked to our timing system. It allows you to follow the meet in real time. You need to search FOD and find the current meet and enter the code - ours for this season will always be 2026. It will not show you overall event placing across heats, it won’t show points scored or show you if there was a DQ (in other words it does not show the final results such as the report attached does). Paid apps will give you result features like SwimTopia Premium or Meet Mobile. Not every team we swim against will use Time Drops and/or SwimTopia like we do but if they do you will be able to view those meet results as well. Meet Mobile is a more universally used results app but also comes with a subscription cost. Purchasing those subscriptions to those apps is completely optional. They both have monthly or annual subscription options.

Here is a link to a video that explain more about the Swimtopia features if you are curious:

Ribbons: Our family folder boxes will be back on the pool deck this week. In your folder you will find your ribbons from the meet. Every swimmer gets a ribbon (provided they were not disqualified (DQ’d) from their event). Only the first heat scores points but every heat earns ribbons (for example if you were in the 3rd heat, but 1st place in that heat, you earn a first place ribbon). Please check your folders this week and bring home your ribbons. If your swimmer was DQ’d the coaches will be reviewing the reasons and will review with your swimmer during practice. Breaststroke and Butterfly are the most technical strokes where we see the most DQ’s. Our coaches use these DQ slips as tools to know where swimmers need additional focus. Our goal is no DQs as we progress throughout the season.

Practice location change starts June 15: Important update regarding our summer schedule beginning June 15.

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we will need to change practice location from Bella Vista to Casa Roble High School. Casa is about 4 miles (10 minutes) from BV in Orangevale.

They are painting Bella Vista once school is out and are not permitting any use of facilities beginning June 15. We understand that any change in location may require adjustments in travel and scheduling, and we appreciate your flexibility and support as we make this transition.

Volunteer: I would like to put out a strong request for more parent volunteers, especially when we host swim meets. Hosting meets comes with additional responsibilities and requires support in key roles, including announcer, starter, meet referee, computer operators and snack bar.

We are specifically in need of additional trained starters. If you enjoy blowing whistles, commanding attention, and wielding the power to start a race with a single beep, becoming a starter may be the perfect role for you! You also have front row viewing to the meet! Although we only have one home meet remaining, we are in dire need in this area with currently only one parent trained to perform this role. Training is required for Starter, however, it is not difficult and can be taught quickly. Please email me if you are interested. Just one home meet left on June 6th!

Fundraiser: Our biggest fundraiser of the season - Splash For Cash - our team swim-a-thon is just about a month away! More details will be sent out later this week.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your continued support of the team! Go Dolphins!
